It is the sausages (not every one but a lot of them) that make me feel hungry. The meat makes me not hungry but sausages do. I suspect some of the seasonings inside ignite my appetite. It is not only one sausage of particular manufacturer it is almost all of them. At first I though it was the salt, but when I eat roasted meat with salt and vegetables I do not feel the same hunger an hour later. I am not fat now since I am still young, but maybe I will need to stop eating those sausage, I don’t need to eat so much.

My Son Destroyer

I had very pretty tree wall sculptures in the kitchen. I feel pity. I thought they were indestructible else I could have hidden them. My little Robert destroys everything his hand can touch. The modern insulation the constant air conditioning makes us with fragile health and is one of the causes for obesity. So if you want to loose weight – stop air conditioning and open the window. You will loose calories for keeping your body temperature. Literally you need to do nothing – you will loose weight out of the tin air. I am joking of course. No one will sit in the cold during the winter just to loose some pounds. But I believe this to be true – we are consuming les energy for keeping body temperature – air conditioning is doing this for us.

Do I Need One for the Bathroom Too?

I have bought today five tin wall crosses – one for each of the rooms in my house. I know the oil makes it with extra calories I don’t need but I like the taste. This oil is something I want to talk about now. I don’t eat the sauce i.e. the oil. I throw it away. I made one small experiment. I started colleting it in one jar. Guess what? In a week I have almost filled jar. This oil is valuable resource. Not for eating of course but for fuel for instance. It can be refined and used for biodiesel in cars for instance. You may say big deal – one jar. I burn hundreds of jars gasoline per week in my car. One small jar is not big issue, but if all the people that throw away excessive oil gather it instead of wasting it, I think this will be one small step into better management of our resources. This will lead to less pollution at the end and we will leave to our children a better place to live. We need to think ahead. Earth does not have unlimited resources.

Wall Decor for My Clinic

I need advice. Shall I opt for two or three flower wall sculptures for the reception of my clinic? It’s a huge room, a bit longer, and I need a lot of wall decor and accessories to make it as cozy as possible. The flower sculptures I mentioned are on sale in an online decor store and I’m afraid if I don’t buy three now, they will soon be over and if I’m not happy with the result I won’t find the same piece to match the other two. I’m willing to buy three now but it’s my partner who is not happy with my decision.

Happy Cow Meat

I want to eat meat from happy cows. What made me impression is how tasteless was the house decorated. The only good impression was the flower wall sculptures in her room. She told me the rest of the house was decorated by her mother. I can not get it how she can choose and have a great taste while her mother has no taste at all? But you can note I am saying “was”. For what do we need paper anymore? We have computers and storage devices that can process and store data with speed and in volumes that exceed any “paper-made or “paper-stored” kind of information. Displays evolve and now we have thinner and lighter devices that we can drag everywhere with us. We can have all that we need for our lifetime stored in the hard drive of a laptop. If we have access to the internet we can touch and see information that needs thousands of lifetimes to gather or store on paper. For what we are using paper. Why we need to put anything on paper? One can say to prevent forgery, or to have it in our hands. Come on… - forgery, people used to forge paper-made documents in the past they can do it with electronic ones – people can and will always do forgeries – this is not a reason. To have it in your hands you can see on your monitor much better with more details and few things simultaneously – this is not a reason too. The conclusion is simple and logical – paper is absolute, why then are we still using it?

Not a Good Way to Make Things

My husband plans to open a bar or a restaurant. He thinks it is not a big deal. He thinks he will spend some money – buy some furniture, decorate a bit the place hire good personal and voile he has his restaurant. He is so hugely mistaken. He thinks other will do the work for him. Like he said to me – you are women decorations are women stuff – so bring here some nice grapes wall hangings or sort of things for a restaurant to make it look nice. But he still he has no idea how the chair and the tables will look like. This is not the way as we should do the things if we are to run any kind of business. There is a mess before we start and what will happen if in case we really try to do something. I hope this is only temporarily, else I will be tortured by his haste and incompetence.

Working in a Greenhouse

When we were still dating with my ex-husband he used to work for a company which had several large greenhouses. They hired me and appointed me his assistant. We worked together for nearly 5 years. Then we divorced and understandably I preferred to quit my job. We have a metal core where all the heavy metals have sunk. Ups… ALL of them? Why we can find heavy elements in the Earth’s surface then? If they are sunk to the middle how did they get on the surface? Volcanoes? But volcanoes erupt magma which originates not from the core but from much more distant area – the upper mantle. According to the theory Earth was hot liquid ball a long time ago. There was plenty of time all the heavy elements to sink to the center of the planet. I may agree with this but still I can not get it how we can have pretty heavy elements on planet’s surface?

Forums Are Great

From all the marvels of the human civilization I love the internet most. Forums are my favorite there. I think they are magnificent meanings of communications between people. You can find valuable information there. You can see opinions about products not sugar coated and blurred by advertisement campaigns. You can find advice for almost everything – from cooking, buying PC to even raising kids. I was wondering what to buy for decorating my kitchen. I had some ideas but they were not well formed in my mind. So I did made a photograph of my kitchen and I had posted it in my favorite forums. I have now kitchen wall art hanged there thanks to the ideas from the people in the forums. And it looks great. The price of cocoa is higher than its historical … stop!!! – higher but in absolute measuring or just it costs more each year in some currency? Everything raises its price. It is a process called inflation as I remember. By which index the author of the articles claiming the chocolate will raise, by which index I repeat they measure the “more expensive”. A hundred years ago, with ten dollars you were able to feed like a prince a whole family a whole week and now you can not have even a decent lunch with such a sum. We do this once every month. While we were there in this nice place my wife was fascinated by the large restaurant wall art hanged. When we get back she made a research and she bought just the same piece. Not exactly the same though. The size was smaller. She placed it in our kitchen but the look was different. We thought at first it is the lighting so we bought lights and we tried to copy the same way they were put at the restaurant but this did not worked either. As I can see now the perspective in our kitchen is different and even with proportionally smaller piece we can not achieve the same effect.

Respect the Food

Our forefathers had a great respect to the food. They used to spend most of their time working to have the daily. Now it is not the same. No one starves (at least in USA in other places it may be other) today and we have more of a problem to restrict us eating less. Food is abundant. Maybe this is a bit wrong. Food needs to be a little more expensive, because this is the way how people will learn to respect it again. When you respect the food you don’t throw it away as we do now. Throwing away food is a sacrilege. We destroy our environment to produce it and later we dispose of it because we do not care if we produce more than we need. This needs to be changed. We are loaning from our future generations. We have a full stocks of food in the supermarkets but at what price? If we continue this way system will bankrupt and Earth will loose the life support we have been so graciously given.

My Son Is So Artistic

My son shows an artistic nature and yet he is only 5 years old. Today I had left them both with his mother in front of one stand showing wall art for home and when I got back in frothy minutes they were still there. He has a remarkable affection to art. When he sees painting he always wants to go there to se it and to touch it. And he always paints all the time at home. Sometimes I wish he was not so artistic because I had already repainted his room twice to hide his “works of art” but I intend to encourage him in this. Not that I have been drinking machine oil since young boy but still I know the smell and I know the taste of machine oil. The wine does not smell exactly but resembles quite the same taste. What makes me talk (or write actually) about it is the price. A bottle that costs more than 20$ should taste a little different I suppose. I am not a connoisseur of the wine but I have food receptors that can tell me the difference between good and bad taste. Expensive means good or at least it should mean. If she does not enter my room she will not see them.

How They Name Constellations

I have been always wondering what is so special of the constellations. Why people had chosen some stars and named them constellations. How they had invented their names? Because if you look at the stars, in Leo for instance you can not say any lion there. Just few dots on the night sky that have been chosen by someone with a vivid imagination. I can not make the association with the animal king in any case. And any other of the constellations do not match at all to their names. You can pick another animal or anything with the same attitude and Leo can easily be drawn to be a mouse. It is a mystery for me how the constellations get their names.

Surely It Is a Good Investment

I may buy a house. It is a good time to invest since market has low prices. It is not an easy step but I am seriously considering buying one particular house. I think my wife will love it. It has a very old tuscan initial wall grille at the entrance and this surely makes the impression for the rest of the house. Old, massive, solid and in the same time stylish – this is how I would describe this house. It certainly needs some repairs but as general this is very good house with a history. Even I may live there when I grow old. I will either sell it or will spend my elder years there. I think I can not go wrong if I buy it.

The @ Has a Long History

I thought that the @ is a product of our modern time. I thought someone had made it up during our century. I was wrong thinking this. Monks during the middle ages had used this mark when they had been translating and copying the ancient manuscripts. On Latin it is “ad” while in modern English it is “at”. So far I had red about the following meanings: located at, belonging, purpose, approaching. In XV century Spanish traders had used it as unit for measure. It was also used in the accounting books as “multiplied”. It makes me really confused how this symbol has so many meanings. Maybe it is only speculations what the symbol was used for. For me it is the symbol that separates the domain and nothing else.

Image via Wikipedia

Can You Feel about Objects

A man can become close attached to another person – his wife, his siblings his friends, sometimes to pets. Our psychological world is fine tuned instrument that can create a masterpiece, a poem about love and in the same time we can be mean and selfish. The grand holidays as the Christmas can urge thoughts that differ from the togetherness and compassion we are supposed to feel. I had such Christmas once. I was sitting and was asking myself. Is it this that you want in your life? Are you now with the right person? Why she is not as the…? It was terrible holiday. I put an end to something that I now regret. But I can not turn the time back even now I want this with all my hearth.

Where to Find the Proper Mirror

I have iron door toppers in my foyer and I had never thought it would be so difficult to match them with other decorations. I bought them for the last house we had rented but we moved and now I can see that it is hard to find the proper mirror for instance. In the last house the mirror was with wrought iron frame massive solid as the other decorations in the foyer. I had bought the door toper to match them but now I can not find such items on the market. I am searching for the proper mirror since two months and still I can not find one to fit perfectly. There is a great choice available but not such that matches my door topers. Maybe I need to quit the idea and to have a whole new decoration concept for my foyer.

Hard Baked Crust – Better Not

I always want to eat the hard baked crust of my meal – no matter if it should be bread or turkey or something else. Carcinogenic – this is what my favorite baked crust is. I had red health advice article saying this and I made some more research and it appears not only one source to claim this. Why pleasure and health are always mutually exclusive?

A Good Gift But not the Perfect

I am about to visit my grandma. I had stopped on one scroll wall grille that will look lovely above her door. I am sure she will like it the only problem is that she can not mount it herself. I can do this for her but I prefer a gift that will not show to my grandma how difficult is for her to move. I am definitely thinking it is a bout time to end this stupid series. I was fascinated by the first episode, I was a little disappointed by the second and from the third movie on, I even don’t watch them. The story is banal everything is predictable and the plot deserves no good comments. I wonder why so many people watch this movie? But finally they all came to senses. They stopped watching and this stupid series will end. It represents some kind of sailboats. The boats look nice. They blend with the ambience of the room and I was happy I had made a good purchase. When I bought them the price was more than satisfying to me. I was happy until yesterday. I had noticed a small rusty spot on my wall art. It is really small one and can not be seen from distance but now I know it is there. This is what happens when you buy cheap. I originate from a poor family but fortune was good to me and now I can say I have no financial problems. But I never forget who I am and from where I had started. I don’t like people who forget who they are and try to be something else they are not. I visit them though because my wife needs friends and I want to know them even I don’t like them. But sometimes I am disgusted. Last time they were discussing the new modern metal wall art my wife’s friend had bought. It was disgusting ugly piece originating from the twisted imagination of a man who had lost his sanity. They were showing great interest and fascination of this art crap. You may laugh at my logic but you need to admit there is a real logic in what I am about to say. Everyone knows that training or practicing some kind of sport increases your life expectancy. You can add like 5 years and even more to your life. But stop here for a moment. How much time you need to practice everyday some sport? Not only have the hours spent in the physical activity but the time has spent for transportation, the money has spent for equipment. If you draw the line you will se that sport has given you time but in the same way it is consuming time. So sport it is helpful but only if you want to be busy – else I see no point.

What to Do with My Grilles

I was in Italy this summer. God is testing us here on Earth and we people fail him all the time. It is only God’s love that keeps us alive. A man must respect his Creator and not to try to be him. I even have french wall decor that reminds a middle age castles’ decorations in my home. It is fascinating how people used to live in castles. There is romance and some power of attraction in the old castles. I can sit and enjoy there for hours. The taste is a little acid but not too acid like lemons and has just the correct acidity. Color is intense red and is very good color too. I like to see how red fog starts to fill the cup when I put inside the tea bag. I speak about this tea because when I drink it I start to feel hunger. Even if I had just eaten even the most lavish meal I still feel hunger. With lemons is not the same. If I eat lemon it kills my hunger, but hibiscus tea makes me hungry. If someone has already found something good then why to busy my brain spend time and efforts to seek for something different. Actually if someone has found something good then the “good options” are one less and I have my option’s seeking with one less. Why to seek from less options when I already have one. I do this all the time and it saves me a lot. This vacation I visited Japan. In the hotel I saw asian metal wall art. It was good looking and I directly took it with me. I paid the price to the reception of course and this was all my efforts. I saved myself hours of wondering what where and how to buy. I have it now on my wall and it is sitting there just fine. Even if you listen and speak that language, even if you watch movies visit lessons regularly, it is not certain weather you will advance quick enough. My experience so far is that you need to start to think in this language. And the best way of thinking is to try to convince someone that you are right on this language. I think arguments must be included in all foreign language lessons. People must try to convince each other. This way the brain is forced to find a way of expressions. This way you seek and remember those means of expression – i.e. the language.

To Live in Middle Ages

Sometimes I think it would be great if I had the opportunity to go back in time and live in middle ages. Not in the dark times but during the Renaissance. People had some very bad times in middle ages but the Renaissance is a very bright period. There is huge romance in those times. There is a great zeal for discovering the humanity. I wish I was there in those times to participate in those glorious events that took place then. I will very happy if I can go back and shake hands with Leonardo. I think they are very strange. As a proof to this I can give you the decoration of the china restaurant I visit often. I like the china food and this is the reason why I go there. The cook is very good and I think this is the most important in one restaurant. Tasty and cheap food is the major attraction in this restaurant. The food is okay but the exterior is funny. They are those Asian motives all around and suddenly the owner had decided to install on the wall a southwestern wall decor. I haven’t seen this in other restaurants – to mix the themes. Maybe this china guy wants to pay respect to the culture in the country he is living now, but this is not the way. Chinese are strange they mix and adopt everything.

Respect to the Teachers

Image by Chicago 2016 Photos via Flickr
When I was at school I respected my teachers. I did that because my parents were telling me to do that and because everybody in my school had respect to them. I guess I was in a good school because I know that it is no the case in all schools. I think respect to the teachers is the first and most important thing when you start your education. If you learn to value what you have in the schools you will learn to value yourself the others and be a good member of the society. I think they should be another subject in schools – respect to the teachers. We let the kids go with their uncle and we both made the best vacation ever. The hotel had everything nice but the best was his garden. It was a little cold during the evenings but we were sitting together with my husband on hard a bench looking at the fire in the big fireplace in the middle of the garden and I was feeling nice warm and cozy. There was garden wall art made of wrought iron and the flames were dancing on the forms making shadows to appear larger and fantastic. The smell of the unprocessed pine trees was filling the air and I was intoxicated by it. I think I can live with only this – my husband next to me, fireplace and the smell of pine trees. We will go next year there again. It was the best vacation ever.

Powder in the Washing Machine

Image by Tim in Sindey via Flickr
I always thought that the rule as more as better applies almost everywhere. I did that with my washing machine. I thought that as more powder I put inside as better the clothes will be washed. I thought also that as more foam inside as better. As I understood lately I have been totally wrong. As it occurred washing machines need the exact dosage of washing powder. The foam created inside is bad and is negative to the washing process. First when I put more washing powder I pollute the environment more. I spend also more money to have not very well washed clothes. I need to read those manuals more thoroughly it is all written down there.

What to Do with My Dog

My dog is very lovely Black and Tan Coonhound. Of course I am not going to share with you where my jewelry is now, but still I think the idea I will share with you is a good one and you can put it into work. You can make a box, disguise it as a fake book and put it in your library. You can make many book-boxes and you can store a lot of stuff this way. I plan it to be a present to my parents when we visit them this year. I don’t see then often lately and I am certain I will not have an opportunity to visit them in the near future. So I want to make them a nice present showing that my thoughts are with them. This wall art is an idea of my husband but I think this time he had a good idea. I want a present that has value not in the price but in the warmth that it has. I think this kind of present. I think my folks will hang it in the kitchen and they will see it every day on their wall. And when they see it they will think of me. And I will think also every morning had they get up from bed and had they took a look at my gift already. The island is quite huge, quite non-populated and for certain they are many riches hidden below the ice. To become a citizen of Greenland now when they are just few thousands of them is quite tempting. If not you then your children will be rich. All this global warming and ice melting will make the island attractive place in maybe 30 years. If you became one of the pioneers of exploring and conquering this land you will have a better future. Of course all that I said here is just hypothetical. I will never give up my life, since I like it the way it is. But if you are poor and desperate, becoming a Greenlander is a good start for a better life I think.

My Experience in Decorating the House

When I enter the store or when I browse internet I find dozens of decorations of my liking. I want to buy them all and try them in my house. But when I bought my first decoration from internet supplier (it was one piece of wall art trees) I realized I had lost myself in all the abundance of options I have seen. The wall art was very pretty by itself but it was not fit to the living room I intended to put it in. I didn’t reckon the size and it was very small for the scale of the room. The colors were match but the theme was not corresponding to the furniture. So I decided prior to buying something to print a picture and I place it where I want to put the stuff in order to see if it is a fit. I also have a ruler and I mark to see the spot it will cover. I did that and now I have perfectly decorated house.

How I Cook the Meat

When I boil meat I always leave it to remain for a few hours in cold water. I also always get rid of the bouillon. I know that in many cooking recipes they use the meat bouillon but I am rather suspicious to it. I know that cattle-breeders use a lot of stuff to produce meat with good quality free of diseases. They certainly use some medicaments to have a better yield. I wish they were not doing this but it is inevitable. I like to eat meat and I don’t want to pay a triple prize for it. So using medicaments is necessary, but I also don’t want to eat cow hormones and antibiotics. That’s why I am getting rid of the meat bouillon. I think most of the bad stuff goes there. I am not doctor or chemist but I suspect I am right about this.

To Be Rich Is not Quite Good Sometimes

Being rich is not for everyone. Our neighbors had inherited substantial sum from distant relative (sounds like fairy tail but such things happen in real life too) and this changed them and now I have a feeling I even don’t know them. Suddenly they showed interest in arts and started collecting things. Now they have metal wall cross hanged in their bedroom which is a collector’s item but has nothing to do with their taste as I know them. They have a classical painting which they had put in the living room. Painting costs a fortune but it is an item neither beautiful, neither interesting, neither with practical value. They started to fill their house with random flashy things next to ancient pieces of art. They started to walk and talk differently and these are not my neighbors. Still I have a hope in them since they had not abandoned their house. I wish my old neighbors return back. I want fellows with whom to drink my beer, to go fishing and get dirty not snobs with whom I have nothing in common.

Nature Is Amazing

They are rivers all over the globe. Have you ever guessed that they are also rivers at the ocean bottom? Really rivers in the oceans exist. The have swift current, waterfalls they form river banks and valleys. They act and have the same impact as the rivers on surface. They carry sediments and nutrients and thus give life on the ocean bottom. Such rivers can exist because of the differences of water layers - temperature, density salt content. How strange things we have on Earth. Everyone will say that to have rivers inside water sounds like an absurd, but they really exist.

I Am Crazy

I like a Spanish girl from our neighborhood. I am 21 and she is 19. I fell in love with her the first moment I saw her. I think I am crazy because we have nothing in common. I managed to visit her house and the first impression was from one large wall cross in her room. She is deeply religious and I respect that but I am 100% atheist and by principle I do not like religious conversations. I am pushy young boy and she is modest, humbled girl. I go to parties whenever I have an opportunity and she does not even have a taste of alcohol. I can not have a meal if I do not include meat in it and she is strict vegetarian. We are so different and yet I am ready to give up everything and became like her. I am really crazy.

How to Use Feng Shui in Your Office

Location, plants and color schemes all have an effect on Feng Shui. These useful tips will explain how to get strong Feng Shui in your office.

There is a great reason that Feng Shui is often called the Chinese art of placement. Mystical forces, according to Feng Shui precepts, rule our achievements or loss in life, not our deeds. The design of the home and the workplace will impact the outcome of our endeavors more than the enterprise itself. Feng Shui principles hold that particular spots are luckier than other and that being in the right place at the right time can make us successful. Although numerous aspects of Feng Shui appear to be foolish, what if they are not? Most folks can use all the good fortune they can get. Let's consider some tips for incorporating Feng Shui into your office to make you more successful:

Locate in promising places. These locations include being in a tall building embedded by lower ones. Also being in a building which is at the intersection of several roads, but which is not directly in front of two intersecting roads resembling the tip of an arrowhead - a deadly place to be situated. An office that is located in a spot that extends a direct view of a body of water is also an idyllic location. Being able to have a clear view of water is so strategic to the Chinese that businesses will lobby the authorities in order to build their offices near the water.

Steering clear of places that are unfavorable. Meat cleaver-shaped constructions like the Sears Tower are not very good places to have an office. The same is true with an office in a building surrounded by high skyscrapers, or which is near a graveyard, funeral home, or even a columbarium. Every bit as adverse is the top floor of a very tall building as violent winds work to disperse ch'i (life force).
Opt for buildings with enormous entryways. Take particular note of the building's entrance to see that it's big enough, doesn't have obstructing towers, and doesn't immediately face a line of trees. The Chinese think that ch'i comes in through thresholds. For this reason, constructions that are developed with the rationales of Feng Shui in mind often have angled entryways; this increases their entryway size and therefore, the amount of life force that can enter in. Take note of how the Macao's casino doors are more or less slanted.

Water is invariably a good thing when it comes to Feng Shui precepts. This is why you may find that nearly all Chinese eateries have a conspicuously displayed fish tank or aquarium on the premises. If there is no access to water, setting up a fountain will do. And water should always be kept clear, so be very meticulous when it comes to changing the water in wall vases and plants.

Other Home Decorating Articles:
Guide to Stylizing Interiors with Home Decor Accents
Wall Art Personalizes your Living Space

Illusion of Space with Mirrors

Daydreaming of making your living area look even bigger than it is? Add the magic of mirrors! Mirrors have been a terrific design component ever since they were first invented. Just think about the large mirrors hung in the palaces of Florentine princes, or the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. See them once and you’ll recall them forever!

A recent decorator spectacle was when American decorator Billy Baldwin created a series of stunning rooms by using mirrors to bounce light off of dark brown lacquered walls, creating a grandiose but comfortable look. The verity of the matter is that a mirror can be employed to make a smaller room look large, or to make a place appear more filled with light. Apart from these useful roles, mirrors also supply attractiveness and elegance to home décor.

The wise positioning of mirrors in any room can enhance visual space. As an example, Baldwin would display mirrors so that they would impart an exterior view into the room. When an outdoorsy view was not feasible or desirable of being taken within, Baldwin would place mirrors to reverberate beautiful art on other walls within the space.

Displaying mirrors is an important part of the Chinese design system known as Feng Shui, too. For example, numerous Feng Shui advisors suggest adding on a strip of mirrors above the working level of the sink and stove to ward off being taken by surprise when individuals enter the room behind you.

You can use mirrors really effectively to enhance visual space, let in natural light and breathe taking views, or to counterbalance architectural blemishes within a space, whether you live in a house, an apartment, or a loft. Here are a few tips for using mirrors you may wish to consider:

• Display mirrors on the ends of a hall to make it look longer:

• Position a mirror crosswise from a source of sunlight like a window or under a skylight to bring more light into the room;

• A splendid wall mirror can reflect the decorative value of accessories like candles, flowers, plants and wall sconce candle holders;

• Hanging a mirror on the wall adjacent to a terrific piece of artwork from your favored wall décor store will both reverberate the persona of the art and increase the look of space;

• Painting one wall of a room in a somber color and hanging a decorative mirror on the dark wall will increase the visual depth of the room;

• Top a larger wall mirror with a flowered swag in your hall. On your way out the front door, the floral swag will impart a captivating appeal;

• Create a grouping of different sized mirrors for an interesting wall arrangement. They work to reverberate light from adjacent walls also!

Mirrors are not simply for permitting us to see ourselves, fix our makeup, or back up an automobile. Now you know that mirrors in your home are one of the best kept secrets used by interior designers to add impact, illusion and light into a home. Try it and see!

Related Articles:
How to Stave Off Decorating Mistakes: Ten Hints
Bringing a Dark Bedroom into the Light
Maximize a Small Kitchen with Feng Shui

Practical Home Office Creation Hints

Getting the look of your home office right can be tricky. You likely wish to avoid the severe corporate look as it is a space inside your home. On the other hand, you do want it to look enough like a workspace to make you feel cozy working there and to come out professional and businesslike to guests who visit your home office.

Getting the befitting look in the home office is dependent upon your personality and the kind of work that you do in the space. Do you favor the serene and cool environment that does not distract you? Then opt for neutral wall tones and majestic impressionistic type fine art. Or are you the imaginative type who flourishes amid visual stimuli? Then probabilities are good that you will choose colors that turn up the vitality in the room. No matter your orientation, wall decor and accessories can be utilized to provoke visual interest inside the space.

The fundamental to making your home office work as a typical useful office is having at hand all the instruments you need—your calculator, files, office supplies, and whatever else your work requires. The key to making it combine with your home’s decor is connecting it to the rest of the house through utilizing the same or similar colors and employing furnishings more suitable to a home than an office.

For example, rather than purchasing a huge corporate desk, go for an armoire with a pull down shelf to complement your other furnishings within the home. It will supply you with the space you need for your computer, books, and software while still looking "at home" when office hours are over and you can close the armoire doors. Exchange commonplace filing cabinets with a trunk that can double as a coffee table. Utilize an upholstered wing chair with great back support as your office chair, a swing out reading lamp with a tri-light that can throw light on your work surface and provide contiguous lighting for the room after business hours. Select a pleasing wall clock instead of a business like desk model and make sure that your wall decor befits your decorating theme; whether you love vintage farm prints or fish wall art, make the space a reflection of your personality.

A home office does not invariably require to take up an entire room. Many folks prefer to set the home office in a niche of a guest bedroom, but they can be situated anywhere. We know of one enterprising lady who removed the clothes racks from a double closet in a spare room, then installed a long, shallow board that served as a desktop, put up shelves above it to hold her work paraphernalia, housed a two-drawer filing cabinet below and utilized a small upholstered occasional chair for her desk chair. The outcome was that the footprint for her home office took up no more space than the original closet while keeping everything organized and vanishing entirely when the closet doors were closed at the end of the day!

With the advent of the Internet, more and more of us are working from our homes. With appropriate planning, the office and its clutter does not have to grow to be an issue inside your home. Side chairs are commonly created with geometric styling, ranging from modest mission pieces to larger contemporary pieces. Fur covered footstools and other trophy pieces contribute a sensation of the grandiose.

So what about your home? Has decorator room envy stung you where it counts?

It’s probable that most of us have been in a "wow" fashioned room and wondered how we could make the same idea work in our own home? The four points that follow can help you get the designer look that you have been craving.

1) Utilize your senses

What style features attract your attention? Good design smacks you in your senses. It evokes your gut instinct. By giving attention to your sensibilities, you can get a clue about what attracted you to the piece in the first place so that you can get a positive start on your design project. Once you have discovered that, make a plan as to what you will keep and re-deploy and what you’ll substitute. Take the completed design picture with you everywhere so you are confident you can live with the room after a few days, and so you can blend its contents.

2) Take all elements into consideration

Take notice of the style elements that you are seeking to duplicate. As an illustration, if you plan to duplicate an entire room, begin with the floors, ceiling, and walls. Frame the design in your mind. Or if you are putting a focus on a specific area of a room, like the bed, start with the headboard and then work to the linens. It is often stated that the item that will cause the most impact within the room is the easiest spot to begin. After that is complete, then you are ready to supply complementary elements to the style in order to complete it.

3) Symmetry is important

A talented interior designer is able to attain a wow-factor in their project because they have an eye for balance and scale. Concord of proportion and positioning is important, whether you are thinking of furniture or wall decor. Analyze the details of the relationships between pieces and then replicate them. Then consider colors, textures and patterns. This is what guides the eye and lends visual interest in any space. Does your room present a geometric chair with a checked cushion? Can’t discover a wall sconce candle holder precisely like the one in the sample? Look for one in a corresponding shape and style. Finding a sure match may mean purchasing a custom-made piece, or choosing one from an antique shop.

4) Finishing your version of the vision

Watching the fruits of your labor come together is refreshing and satisfying. As you assemble the elements that invigorated you, acknowledge the details that complete the designer room. Distinctiveness is added with small touches. Instances of details that can make a difference are ornamental lamp finials, picture frames, or a vase of tulips. You are learning every time that you invest in a design project - and design is a process that must be learned. Take a photo of your project and compare it to the original design when you are finished. A spa visit can feature a rub down to release the tension from your body, a facial to make your skin look its best, or a manicure to boost your confidence; no matter what reason you have for loving the spa, you in all probability will leave from there relaxed and carefree.

Though you probably don’t employ a massage therapist, aesthetician or manicurist in your home, you can still produce the comforting health spa aura of passive relaxation and well being in your master bathroom utilizing accessories and décor accents instead of major refurbishments. The sundries, towel stands, mirrors and other items that you pick out for your spa-at-home can make a big difference.

The following tips will help you to produce a real spa ambiance in your master bath:

• Put in graciously made towel stands that are ample enough to accommodate body sheet type bath towels without seeming overpowered or overcrowded. Wrought iron towel racks with a shelf on the top are particularly good as you can use the shelf to hold and exhibit scented aromatherapy candles and potpourri that add to the spa feeling.

• You do not want to conceal bath soaps or body lotions away below the sink. They appear much nicer in a big, clear glass jar.

• Roll your clean linens like towels, hand towels and washcloths and store them in decorative baskets.

• Utilize antiques to make charming storage: An old three-drawer chest of drawers or detached repurposed jam cupboard—especially when painted the corresponding color as the bathroom walls can hold a lot of hair dryers, curlers, cosmetics and whatever else you require. You will discover that the overall outcome is both individualized and attractive.

• Include some greenery to enhance a sensation of well being. A dark green plant looks great anywhere, and images of blossoms and landscapes contribute additional notes of serenity. Ferns love steam and moisture and they prosper in a bathroom setting, as long as you have ample natural light to permit them to grow. Include wall hangings and framed art of beach views, shells, dune grass and fish wall art in comforting tones.

• Use candles lavishly —nothing says "elegant spa" more than candles! Set candles of all sizes along the edges of your tub. You can display a splendid wall sconce candle holder above the tub and light them while bathing for a reposeful experience.

• Music for the senses. Invest in a small compact disc player and several CDs of soft music and natural sounds such as light rain or ocean waves. Listening to consoling music while getting ready for work can help to begin a day that runs smoothly; listening to soothing music during an evening bath can take the edge off one that didn’t. Many speciality retailers sell "Spa Sounds" music on compact disc.

• Use bath salts and body oils every day. Do not refuse yourself the luxuriousness of these items in your daily life. Botanical bath soaks, body lotions, and oils can be an everyday opulence that you use to indulge yourself. Many spas today sell the same products you savor during spa treatments for home use as well, and purchasing them for home use will truly make you feel your bathroom is a grand spa!

As with any health spa you visit, it is the personalized touches and ambiance that make it remarkable and memorable. This holds true for your master bathroom as well. If you select items that you love that add to the spa aura, you cannot go wrong!

Additional Home Improvement Articles:
Conquer Designer Room Jealousy with These Four Tips
How to Add Light to a Dark Bedroom
Customizable Functions for Unused Loft Spaces

Mending a Sagging Machine-Woven Cane Seat

Chairs made from cane are gorgeous accents for any home. Maybe you have a cane seat rocking chair in your baby's nursery, or a cane woven loveseat in your sunporch, accentuated by tropical wall art and fish wall hangings.

If you need to mend a hand-caned chair, you should take it to a pro craftsman. Luckily, you can fix machine-woven caning troubles including sagging cane or a seat replacement.

But your machine-woven cane seating can effortlessly be repaired at home, whether the trouble is a drooping seat or if you want to exchange the seat entirely. An easily interchangeable spline binds machine-woven cane together. If a chair is floppy, you often can fix if without even removing the slat or replacing the caning. Here is some information to help you determine what kind of mend your cane chair needs in order to make it as great as new.

Drooping Seat Troubles
With repeated use, a cane chair will begin to droop over time, especially if the chair is exposed to moisture. This repair is simple though, so it is not a problem. Begin by turning the chair over. Then you will have to rub down the wicker of the chair with a damp cloth, taking care to avoid getting the frame wet. Let the cane dry for a minimum of 24 hours, so the material can contract. Keep the seat from drooping in the future by misting it with water once every thirty days and allowing it to dry before use. This also prevents the cane from cracking and drying.

Replacing a Whole Seat
Cane that has been machine-woven is connected to a frame with spline, like to window screen. If need be, this can be exchanged. Find a groove on the chair's frame that is filled with wood slat. In order to repair the seat, you need to take out the slat and exchange it.

You will need to make sure that you have a sufficient amount of cane to make the necessary repair. Have enough to cover the seat plus two more inches on each side. Cane is sold in major craft stores and comes in sheets that are either one foot or two feet wide. A measuring tape, fine-grit sandpaper, wood glue, scissors, flathead screwdriver, wedges, a mallet, utility knife, and caning slat will also be necessary when undertaking this fix. You should likewise have a sink closeby or a tub of warm water with a big rag or towel.

First, you want to measure the seat of your chair and cut the caning so it will have two inches extra on every side. Position the cut cane in the tub of warm water for about forty-five minutes; this makes the cane easy to work with and more pliable. While you are waiting for the new caning, get rid of the old material. You will require the flathead screwdriver to pry up the slat. If you are having trouble removing it, then utilize the utility blade to cut around the edges and prize it loose. Be sure that all adhesive and dust is removed from the grooves of the chair as well.
* Once the cane is finished soaking, remove it from the water and use your cloth to pat it dry. Place the cane over the seat and use a wedge and hammer to tap it into the rut in the chair. Pull the caning tight but be certain not to distort the caning. Then tap a wedge into the other side. Position wedges around the entire chair frame.
* After you have placed wedges all about the chair, take them out one at a time. While removing each separate wedge, glue the fresh spline into the seat. The wedge and hammer can be applied, if need be, to help put the spline into the groove. Once you have taken the wedges out and installed the slat, cut the slat to fit and fit the last section in. Wait till the paste dries before shaving off unnecessary paste and material using the blade. Sand the area with the sand paper. A vacuum cleaner will take away all the dust. And finally, apply a new coat of spray seal to your fresh cane seat.

Additional Home Improvement Articles:
Guide to Stylizing Interiors with Home Decor Accents
Guide to Decorate Your Home with Metal Wall Art
Feng Shui Kitchen Techniques
Maximize a Small Kitchen with Feng Shui

Discerning Flair Can Work For You

A home adorned in eclectic style incorporates a smorgasbord of themes that are pulled together for a well-balanced look. The greatest benefit of eclectic style is that you can take pieces from several styles and mix them together. Perchance you love the fresh lines of modern-day decor, but want to add a few traditional or country rustic pieces. Possibly you adore cottage style but want to add French country accessories. An eclectic approach will let you use all of these sources. A good eye for what looks to look good together is needed to pull off a true eclectically styled room. Eclectic style is more challenging to achieve than themed decor techniques because there is no common theme. It is necessary to find discerning contrasts and similarities when planning an eclectic room. If you are attempting to create an eclectic room, try some of these tips.

Creating Original Rules
To start, forget what you believed you knew about decorating. You are going to disregard the fact that furniture comes in "sets" and buy simply pieces you desire. These sets are foreseeable and can be boring. In eclectic style, you do not have to restrict your alternatives to one kind of wood species. So in lieu of picking out all pine or cherry, you can pick out oak, mahogany or other wood species. Make sure that the different pieces of furniture mix with grain, style, color, etc. Think out of the box for wall decorating ideas: An aged garden gate or an old window frame can be wall art or stand in for a headboard.

Creating a Harmonious Space
It is important to proportion things out in your eclectic room. For illustration, take a rug from India and place it underneath a rich oak table and an oak hutch. A hardy oak table is reminiscent of the rural style, but bringing in a carpet that is brightly colored with navy blue, burgundy, and forest green gives the area a whole new look. Further accents will alter the total style of the area. You can add tasteful elegance with an exotic feel with accents like a burgundy candle in an Asian style brass wall sconce holder - which also works to pick up color from the rug. Employ navy blue material with cream trim for chair coverings. A perfect accent for an eclectic dining area is antique china plates in a white and blue pattern. With these unique elements, the room is a mix of country, modern, and exotic. The plates on the walls and the rug bring out the saturation of the colors and give the room counterbalance. These pieces also have a pale backdrop in common, in addition to having a reasonably quaint motif. Some components, like rooster plates, for illustration, are too homespun country and would have neglected to achieve a balance in the room. There are some things that pull together the elements of the area. For one thing, the emphasis colors all have the same vividness and are dispersed throughout the area space. The oak furniture in the room withers into the background in the face of other grand pieces, which step down the country theme. The chairs have the ease of modern style, but they are acute enough to go with the theme. Simple oak furnishings and matching linen coverings can work well to counterbalance more unusual accents.

Less is More
When executing an eclectic style, it is effortless to overdo it. Set various pieces together to experiment with various looks. Order heavy pieces throughout the room as counterbalance is essential; you do not want heavy items set up together. Lucidity and deepness of colors is fundamental. That is why pastels mix well because they are all light and clear.

Mixing Individual Components in Eclectic Style
In order to make an eclectic style work, it is necessary to fuse components on various levels. You might select to mix styles, like rural and modern, and fuse unique fabrics with different woods. Finish the look by positioning different styles of items next to one another, such as a current vase on an old-fashioned table. This mix-match strategy can help you to produce an eclectic area.

Eclectic Rooms to Enjoy
It is important to like the pieces that you put in the area because you are the one who has to reside there. That means putting your favored color in the room in a modern sculpture, pieces of conventional pottery, and traditional paintings. By applying the same color to commix versatile pieces, you can combine all of these items into one room or area.

Other Interesting Articles:
Mending a Sagging Machine-Woven Cane Seat
Sensible Clutter-Busting Ideas You Can Implement Right Away
Using Color to Create Good Feng Shui
Using Feng Shui Principles in Your Vehicle
How To Spot Old World Style

Tips for Getting a Decorator Look on a Budget

As a result of new economic issues, folks are going out less and spending more time in their own homes. Since you are in your house often, you may want to redecorate it. However, restorations can also be very expensive, and at a time like this most folks cannot afford costly decorating. Items seen in high end shops and catalogs may be out of the question then, but that does not mean you cannot achieve a terrific look at an affordable price. The following tips will help you create a decorator look for less.

Inspiration Drawn from Top Designers
Home designers and interior decorators can offer outstanding services, but they are pricey and many people cannot afford them. Instead, become your own decorator. You can draw guidance and wall decor ideas from home decor shops. Catalogs are also an additional great source for guidance; just rip out pages displaying items that interest you. Create a portfolio using these torn-out pages and take it along when looking for pieces you like.

Achieving Drama for Less
The goal of embellishing on a budget is to create a stunning look for the least amount of money practicable. One of the easiest and least costly changes you can make is paint. The majority of walls are white, and can be predictable and dull. Experiment with brilliant colors like sienna, red, or deep green to bestow vividness and warmth to the room. If you are looking to widen a space, try pale colors, like lemon yellow or apple green.

You will be astounded by how much of a difference is made merely by updating your window treatments. If you have a basic layer in good condition, including material shades or wooden blinds, then add another layer on top. The surplus layer can be elementary like curtain panels or sheer curtains, but it will make a great affect imparting softness and drama to the room. These simplistic touches can change a ho-hum space into a designer-inspired one.

Selecting the Best Spot to Discover Deals
The majority of your budget should be invested in staple items that will last for many years, like flooring and furnishings. Be certain that you love these items and will still like them years from now. Look for cheap accent pieces to save money. Big-box stores frequently provide similar products at a much more inexpensive cost. For example, a wine wall décor in a discount shop may look just as beautiful as a more pricey piece at a specialty shop.

There are many origins for finding designer style items. Specialty shops and department stores often offer clearance or sale items that are of top quality. You can discover great decor outlets on the Internet that provide great deals on incredible products. Before you buy anything on the Internet though, make sure that it is a reputable company and check out their return policies and shipping costs.

Putting the Room Together in Expressive Style
Accents are essential to creating the look you want. You might look for decorating books that will show you how to accomplish a finished look with accessories and patterns. A combination of fabric, metal, wood and other materials will bring astuteness and texture to any space. You should also note the layout and organization of pieces in the room.

In the end, you are going to be the one who has to live with your space, so make sure that it befits your style. So choose the style that suits your personality then pick an inspiration piece for the space that you love. From there, it just takes locating pieces that fit into the room and fit your budget.

Related Articles:
Discerning Flair Can Work For You
Tile can Add Big Style to a Small Bathroom
How to Decorate a Kitchen with Creamy Glazed Cabinets
Bringing a Dark Bedroom into the Light

How To Heighten the Style of the Entry

Most visitors and guests who come to your home will enter through your entry door foyer, so it's essential that this space is fashionable and welcoming. A foyer or entry is also serviceable space that can be utilized to your vantage. Keeping this area attention-getting and well arranged is feasible with fashionable, serviceable storage.

Decor for the Entryway that is Serviceable

With guests continually coming and going, a hall can rapidly grow into a dumping ground for hats, coats, books and other personal items. For foyers containing a closet, lend more usefulness to this area by installing some shelves. Loose items – hats, gloves, scarves – can be stored in baskets on the shelf.

Make the entry area even more trendy and useful with a footstool or workbench that offers storage beneath. This will provide handy spots to sit when removing shoes or setting down a briefcase or bag. If vintage is your expressive style, search antique stores and flea markets for a standard hall tree. Or repurpose two or three vintage dining chairs into a bench by removing their seats and uniting them with a long piece of finished wood. Finish the bench and chairs to your liking and supply a long cushion for padded comfort. Hang a long mirror above the bench for an eye-catching presentation. Add a pair of wall sconces to either side of the mirror for an even more aesthetically gratifying grouping.

If your entrance hall is too small for a work bench, look at a smaller table with a drawer or two. This will give you a place to drop keys, cell phones and other small items that can clutter an entrance. Add usability to the foyer with an embrella stand and small stool.

Adding Style to the Foyer
Accentuate Space with Mirrors. A framed wall mirror companied by a smaller entry table makes a great grouping. Displaying the mirror above the table permits it to reflect light from nearby windows, which will add the illusion of roominess to small entrance halls. The mirror will also reflect light from a stylish lamp set upon the table, a wall sconce candle holder or aromatic candles set in exquisite candle holders on top the table. A wall mirror is an asset in any foyer, grand or small, contributing natural light, reflecting artificial or candlelight, and furnishing a convenient spot to check your appearance.

The entrance hall can become a good area to impart your expressive style via wall decor and other accessories. Pictures, statuettes, sculptures, and lamps are all great accents for the foyer. For example, tropical wall art is great for the house that is decked out like a beach cottage.

Place it on a pedestal. You can position items like topiaries or floral baskets on top the pedestal for a unique diplay. You can find marble, granite, brushed metal, and painted resin pedestals in a plethora of price ranges and styles.

More Interior Decorating Articles:
Tips for Getting a Decorator Look on a Budget
Adding Light to a Dark Bedroom
Spotting Old World Style
Paint your way to a New Designer Look

Alluring Bedroom is Inspired by the Garden

Transform your master bedroom into a romantic retreat full of the beauty and grace of a fascinating cottage garden. Classical cottage details, personalized touches, blends of garden themed materials and patterns come together against a background as fresh and inviting as a garden in spring to produce a complete cottage bedroom getaway. Take these hints and individualize them to produce the space your own.

Intimate and Fresh
Richly textured walls form the ideal setting for your cottage garden inspired bedroom. Spotted cottage paper, or wallpapers in larger pastel bands or florals provide a checked setting. Or, try definitive cottage wainscoting or beaded board finished in a creamy shade of white. Run the wallpaper half way up the wall and top it off with a narrow shelf. The shelf is a convenient place to exhibit garden themed plates, vases or other collectibles.

Enamored Bedding and Furnishings
The centerpiece or focal point of the room will be the bed, whether it is created of natural wood, forged iron, or covered with cloth. Top a striped dust ruffle with a double wedding ring or checked comforter. Mix up textiles such as chenille, lace and cotton fiber comforters and perpetually layer patterns when building enamored cottage flair. Of course you will want to use some floral patterns, but also blend in stripes, plaids and checks. Colors that fall within similar hue intensity will give a pulled together look. Light or lightly colored walls will contribute a stand out look to accessories and bedding. Gingham checks and solids, striped and plaid patterns as well as floral wall paper that has accent colors of the room is also a great option. You might also look at blending different floral patterns of similar style and color.

Try a unique look in the room by angling the bed in a corner. Break out of the box and buffer the lines of the bedroom with a bed, furniture or mirror with graceful curved lines in the headboard, bureau or wall mirror.

Garden Fresh Accents add Romance

* Make your dresser a one-of-a-kind individual statement by layering on old-fashioned white table dressings. Add a pair of matching metallic champagne glasses filled with pink wines, a collection of family photos, metallic jewelry box and an exquisite glass base table lamp.
* A collection of straw hats or hat boxes and floral plates make good accents to go with your garden ambience. Place a straw hat on a hat stand on a corner table and hang other hats and plates behind it to make a multi-dimensional display. Add a tea pot or sugar bowl full of your favorite blooms.
* Details matter. Dried lavendar dangling in bundles from a glass knobbed closet or room door is a nice touch. Position a hat box collection atop your dresser. A topiary on the chest oozes English garden appeal. Add aromatherapy with candles and potpourri in floral scents.
* Add architectural pieces from yesteryear to lend garden themed hints. Ideas include an antiquated wrought iron fence grating produces a different focal point on a wall or as a headboard; perch old birdhouses atop work posts for a whimsical statement in a corner.
* Make the feel clearly exclusive by repurposing garden details in the room. A plant stand cuddled in a reading corner that holds a few potted plants brings much charm. Convert a bigger urn or other container with a glass top to repurpose it as a side table or night stand. Turn a finished flower pot into a wall sconce candle holder.
* Alfresco decor like a bird bath or statue can be brought inside. Supply the sound of gently flowing water by setting a tabletop fountain in a birdbath.

More About Home Decorating:
How To Heighten the Style of the Entry
Critiquing the Tenets of Feng Shui
Creating Balance Using A Color Chart
Stucco Works Best As An Unpainted Surface
